Reminder: Grow Greene County grant cycle is open

The Grow Greene Gaming Corporation reminds organizations in Greene County that its competitive grant application is available for 2020. The application can be found on the Grow Greene County website, www.growgreenecounty.org, along with guidelines regarding funding requests.Competitive grants for $35,000 and more will be considered. Completed applications are due Feb. 14, and can be mailed to P.O. Box 437 in Jefferson or dropped off at the Greene County Extension office at 104 W. Washington in Jefferson by noon that day. Greene County Community Foundation applications for under $35,000 are also due on Feb. 14.

The Grow Greene County competitive grant application was developed to allow organizations to share how their requests will benefit Greene County.

Previously Jamie Daubendiek wrote an application for the Greene County Youth Athletic Association and had this to say: “Writing the grant was an easy process compared to other grant writing opportunities. It was straightforward and allowed us to share our vision for our project and what impact it will have in the area.”

Mary Weaver has written grant applications for Thomas Jefferson Gardens, the Greene County animal facility and the Friends of Rippey, all of which have been recipients of Grow Greene County funds. Weaver shared, “The grant application is not difficult. If applicants will just read and then follow the directions to request the funds, they will be pleased.” Weaver also said, “Grow Greene County serves as a financial boost to my town of Rippey and to all of Greene County.”

Grow Greene County will announce recipients of the 2020 grants at its Awards Night Tuesday, April 7, at Wild Rose Jefferson’s Greene Room. Questions concerning the application may be asked via email at growgreenecounty@gmail.com, or by leaving a message at 515-368-3313.
